Investment Strategies

RIA Advisory Group offers a unique selection of strategies including Strategic Asset Allocation, Tactical Asset Allocation and Equity/ETF Trading Strategies. Our strategies are based on principles widely tested and adopted by academic research and wealth management firms. Depending upon the risk tolerance and return objectives of each client, often we utilize multiple strategies for a client to further diversify their portfolios.

Strategic Asset Allocation
Strategic asset allocation is based on widely practiced “Modern Portfolio Theory” and is often referred to as “Buy and Hold”. Strategic Allocation, at the inception of the portfolio, establishes and adheres to what is a “base policy mix.” Because the value of assets can change given market conditions, the portfolio needs to be re-adjusted back to the base policy mix. Major allocation changes seldom occur unless a “life event” such as retirement warrants it.

We offer several Strategic Allocation strategies from “Best of Breed” mutual fund strategies to very low cost, passive ETF index strategies.

Dynamic / Tactical Asset Allocation
Dynamic/Tactical asset allocation is a moderately active management portfolio strategy that allows for a range of percentages in each asset class. Using factors such as momentum, trends and relative strength, it re-balances (increases or decreases) the percentage of assets held in various categories in order to take advantage of market pricing anomalies and/or strong market sectors.

We offer several Tactical Allocation strategies based upon investor risk temperament as well as several Tax Managed strategies for tax conscious investors.

Trading Strategies
Trading strategies involve concentrated portfolios of individual stocks, ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds) or a custom blend of both, based upon various investment themes. The stock only strategies typically lack broad asset class diversification and exhibit higher volatility than the overall markets. Investors should limit their overall exposure to these strategies to a level they are comfortable with.

We offer a variety of equity Trading Strategies ranging from 5 stock portfolios up to portfolios with more than 30 stocks, including strategies based on models of tax efficiency and downside protection principals.
